In the midst of COVID-19, the computer and the Internet has now become the go-to source for work and school. In very poor locations around the world, school closure means children are missing precious time in their lives when they should be developing their brains. Towns and villages that are fortunate enough to have EVCO computer labs either in a school or community library are still able to learn amidst social distancing and wearing of masks.
This difficult time has shown how important our effort to bridge the digital divide is and how harder we need to work. If ICT is the engine driving better education around the world, then the world needs to work harder to enable the poor and the neglected in rural communities to have a better opportunity for a better life. A mind is indeed a terrible thing to waste!
